Education Project

This VEC project is helping to develop the Helambu Village Community by providing facilities for educating the poor people. VEC is now running the project of (AYCBS) Ama Yangri Community Boarding School at Gangkharka Baruwa-2 Sindhupalchok. We have 74 students in this school from nursery to class six (VI).

Health Camp Project

In November 2009, our friends and medical professionals Dr. Mike and his wife Val, volunteers Pearl Wight and Ina Booker, and others, set to work, giving medical check-ups to students and villagers, and administering treatment when necessary. The health camps carried out by our friends and medical volunteers have been the only access many people in Helambu have to health care.

In October 2008, Pearl and Sally, two nurses from Scotland traveled through Helambu and Baruwa. With approximately $600 worth of medicine purchased in Kathmandu, the team traveled to the villages of Yangri, Gangkharka, and Baruwa to diagnose and treat the region’s sick and injured. In one week, they treated approximately 200 people for a variety of conditions until they ran out of medicine.
